How to get an Australian PR without going through consultancy and save Rs. 65,000

Are you Interested in getting an Australian PR?
Don't have trust in immigration Consultancies?
Want to save Rs. 65,000 consultancy charges?

If you are walking around with one of the above questions then here's my research which could help you get an Australian PR.

There are quite a few processes and at times, they were a little confusing to know if a particular step has to be followed or not. Based on my exhaustive research I listed out the steps to be followed for better understanding:

This is the Visa which is valid for people interested in migrating with their work experience and skill set who are currently not sponsored by the state, territory or an organisation from Australia.

Steps to get an Australian PR - Skilled Immigration PR 189 (Independent)

Firstly, understand what is
Skilled Immigration PR 189:

1. Check if your occupation is listed under the skill occupation list (SOL) released in the Australian government website.
https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work/Work/Skills-assessment-and-assessing-authorities/skilled-occupations-lists/SOL

Please be very careful while choosing your occupation.
For instance, Software Test engineers need to be sponsored by a state, territory or an organisation hence, they are not valid for 189 visa.

The below link gives the exact code for all the occupations.

2. Once you have identified if you are eligible based on your current occupation, you are required to submit a skill set assessment to ACS Australian Computer Society. You will get points based on your experience, English proficiency submitted and your qualification. There are a lot of online tools which assess your points. However, it may not be accurate.

Please note: It is not compulsory to submit English proficiency if you are confident of a good score. It can be processed without it.

You may also try a self-assessment in the link below. There is a section which clearly mentions how points are awarded:

3. After you have received the assessment by ACS, check if it qualifies for the minimum points which are 60 points in case of an Australian PR. These points do not guarantee the visa however, the points are required to apply for an EOI. (Express of Interest)

4. English competency exam has to be provided which can either be IELTS or TOEFL. Please check the below link:
https://www.border.gov.au/Lega/Lega/Form/Immi-FAQs/aelt

5. An EOI is an expression of interest which needs to be submitted once you have your assessment by ACS along with your English competency scores.

Submit the EOI here:
https://skillselect.gov.au/SKILLSELECT/ExpressionOfInterest/PreReg/Start

6. The final step, once everything has been submitted, please wait for an invitation to apply for the visa. Meanwhile, prepare all the documents to be verified i.e., your work experience letter, Qualifications and English competency scores. These documents are sent directly.

Please find the link below for the checklist of documents to be submitted once invited for the VISA:
http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/189-/Skilled-Independent-visa-(subclass-189)-document-checklist

7. To check the VISA status and process use the link provided below:
http://www.border.gov.au/Busi/Visa

Generally, VISA invitations are provided to people with higher scores first. It may take anywhere from a month to 12 months to get the call. Also, once you are invited please note that the VISA application needs to be logged within 60 days.

Most of the consultancies follow this exact procedure to file PR on your behalf and their charges might be around Rs. 65,000. With all the consultancy scams I don't see a point why one must go through the immigration consultancy for PR.

GOOD LUCK!
